Spring Wall Art “America, My Country ’tis of Thee“
At the end of another tragic week in this Country, why would anyone want to post an image of the American flag? Perhaps you are among those who think this way. There was a time when I might have been sympathetic, but I am, no more. The simple answer is, “Because it is time to recommit to the astonishing vision of founding ideals set forth by our forefathers and mothers.” It is definitely not the time to continue to trash these ideas, compromise them, ‘update’ them into oblivion or replace them with any contemporary drivel for which we bear everyday witness, on-line or on TV. Here is my version of “America, My Country ’tis of Thee,” one of a series of 7 original such posters I designed in the immediate aftermath of 9.11.01 when we were all hurting together, and I thought perhaps such an undertaking might continue to reinforce “Who We Are,” which is what I wound up calling this entire original collection of Americana Posters.
I continue to be pleased to offer these images on the occasion of Memorial Day, 2022, a most special holiday in which we all stop to remember those among us of the highest order who have given their lives in defense of this land.

As the Pandemic seems for the moment to have wound down (before the next variant arrives?) what better way to celebrate than…with a spring art print…a lighthouse print, perhaps, or a poster with a patriotic theme, or a Honey-Bee print, or golf print…not bad gift choices for a friend or relative!

“Business Advice” for day: My apologies, I am not normally late to my blog post, but this week, I am. Family matters and our national catastrophes of recent weeks have been on my mind as they are on the minds of so many Americans during this time of severe unrest. As is true in business, one gets preoccupied. The objective is always to get done what needs to be done, what ought to be done and what must be done, on time, and on budget. Excuses don’t cover it. So here is an example I’m not wild to admit. I am in the process of catching up in any number of activities, of which this is only one. As actors say, “The show must go on!” no matter what. In business, “On time, on budget” has a similar urgency and ring to it, is this not true? Here is one more expression of ‘thoughts and prayers,’ offered on behalf of those who have a lost their lives, their families, their friends, in two events over recent weeks; also to the first-responders, front-line defenders and health-care professionals who make it their business to end these tragedies and to comfort the wounded amidst the aftermath. I am confident, unlike some of our politicians, that thoughts and prayers, along with small gestures in the affirmative offered by each of us over time, help. As our Nation grieves, let us this Memorial Day stop to remember those who have fallen in battle, yes, but also those who have fallen in tragedy without reason…in which they bore not one scintilla of responsibility.
