November Art Prints “God Bless America“
What a week. Election Day is behind us, though much critical data as to the outcome of the election is still wanting. No one, as of now, knows how our Congress will function for the next two years. And then, Veterans Day is just ahead. This post is dedicated to and in honor or our Veterans. God only knows the trials and tribulations of our Vets, the one percent who choose to defend this Country. Given everything going on here at home and in the world, I cannot offer up a print of my own design in the spirit of a greater “Thank You,” than to our Vets.
By now, some of you know the story of this poster and the series to which it belongs. Some time after 9.11.2001, I designed a series of seven such posters utilizing the flag that flew in front of this home at the time to help us come back together as a nation by remembering some hymns that resonate with the values as to who we are, hence the name, the “Who We Are Collection.” Most of these commercially offset posters of the time sold out, especially the Star Spangled Banner (most popular) and this poster, God Bless America. But now, they are all available in digital form right from my George Delany Art website. Plus, right here on this site you can customize your print image by material, matte, frame and hardware.
Question for you: For any occasion, have you ever purchased a single, original, graphic print? An art print? A photo print? Probably not. Most haven’t my view. Maybe right now, here, as November is upon us – instead of just another commercial gadget, you might consider a different kind of gift, an art print. Or, how about a Honey-Bee print? Or, a golf print? A lighthouse print? Lift someone’s spirits! Giving art, to give a print can be a joyful experience…even in trying times… such as now. When I give a print, it is most assuredly a joyful experience! In these testy, tumultuous times, think about giving an original print especially in light of the holiday season, one that is here, in its early stages.
Materials: Prints are all produced using high-quality materials; pigments, papers and framing materials. I invite you to visit often, as this fall season moves toward the end of the year, 2022. Suggestion, you purchase a new print every now and again, one that moves you. What better way to celebrate the holidays than by planning early, and getting a gift or two out of the way by purchasing perhaps a lighthouse print, or a poster with a patriotic theme, or a Honey-Bee print, or golf print…unique gift choices for a friend or relative, perhaps even…a Veteran.

“Business Advice” for day: Yesterday, at the voting center in this town where you must provide identity proof in the form a residence address (validated), I remarked, “have been ready to do this for two years.” My sentiment was shared broadly in that moment, many residents felt similarly. It was a particularly powerful experience, this vote, this year. After all, isn’t this essentially a sacred exercise? Isn’t this voting thing no less than the honoring of a covenant between our Founders & our grandchildren? Overseen by the Almighty? I completed the task with a sense of relief, or determination, of gratitude, and hope, to be frank. These sentiments I still carry. But here we are, 24 hours later and we learn that while 75% of this country’s residents say we are moving in the wrong direction as a Nation, 95% of the votes went to re-elect incumbents? What in all this world…gives? Alaska uses its ranking system and tells us votes may be known “in a few weeks.” Arizona says they are prepared to “work til the end of the year to clarify votes,” while Florida, much more densely populated, has completed their entire count in one day, on the day, Election Day. And Georgia? No! Not again! In reality, we still don’t know what the final tallies are in either the House or Senate, and therefore, how this Congress is to function, going forward. How can this be?
I am with my former President on this. We don’t want an ‘election season.’ We demand an election day, one vote, one identity, one citizen, one piece of paper, all to be counted by end-of-day, done. DONE. Let’s do what we say we’re going to do for the reasons we say we’re going to do them…and a little bit more. Let’s put some basic integrity back into this system before 2024 rolls around. Let’s get it right.
